How far will you go when the way back lies in darkness?
In Desperate Survival, you accompany a light-bearing crawler through branching mines. Choose your next destination, fight through the tunnels, and decide when a detour is worth the risk. Your next find could change your build. You still need to make it back to the light.
Follow the light. Take the detour.
The crawler carries its light with you into the mine. Beyond protected areas, darkness deals increasingly severe damage. Place torches, keep a route back, and decide how much risk a possible find is worth. Even within the light, the mine's inhabitants can still reach you.
Build your loadout, cube by cube
At the workbench, attach modules directly to your equipment. Rotate the 3D preview, find a suitable spot, and make the most of limited building space. Compatibility and placement help determine which combinations you can create.
Modify damage, range, projectile speed, flight time, piercing, and more. Prepare your starting loadout at camp, then add modules you find during a run whenever you reach the safely parked crawler.
Choose your route through the mine
Explore procedurally generated mines and reveal the map as you go. Pick between branching paths and destinations offering different rewards or services. Merchants and rest stops give you opportunities to prepare for the next push.
As you descend, enemies grow stronger and their groups grow larger. Combine melee attacks, gunfire, and dashes, watch your magazine, and make room to reload.
Prepare for another descent
Gather experience, scrap, and modules, level up, and adapt your equipment to the challenges of each run. When your run ends, return to camp. Permanent upgrades and your prepared starting loadout give you a foundation for your next attempt.
Development status and plans
Desperate Survival is in development. The current prototype includes the Salvage Veteran as a playable character, crawler expeditions, light and darkness mechanics, combat, loot, equipment modification, and camp progression.
Plans include additional playable characters, more enemies and boss variants, a wider range of biomes, and further modules and camp features. The goal is an endless run across successive mines. Moving between mines is already possible in the prototype, while the full loop is still being tested and expanded.
Additional classes and the content expansions listed above are not yet part of the current prototype.
