VERTICAL FIGHTERS

Each of the 4 classes in the game maintain a rock-paper-scissors style relationship with each other:

Bring a team of 4 units, of any class and combination into each mission!

The HUD allows players to quickly see how terrain and cover is affecting them in battle.

Vertical Fighters features different ways of customising your units to better fit your playstyle!
Each customisation option changes your "Power":

1. The greater the bonus offered, the more Power will be added to your unit's total.
2. A unit with lower Power will have a shorter recovery time compared to a higher Power unit.
3. If your enemies kill you, they are awarded the Power of your unit in the form of points.

Take control of 4 distinct classes of units and engage in inter-layer combat in the air and on the ground. And yes, as huge nod to arcade SCHMUPS you can even play as a stationary turret and still be a killer!

Many units come with variants in (A)ttack, (U)tility or (D)efense specialities. Each variant has an increased number of abilities over their standard form. Each new ability increases the unit’s Power rating. The examples below are of the Helicopter Gunship:

Equip a variety of different Camouflage to adjust the way you play! Each one offers its own set of bonuses. Below are some examples of camouflages in matching terrain.

Pilots offer a way to change the many stats of your units, directly affecting their handling and performance. The more powerful the bonus stat, the higher the Power rating. There are even some pilots that offer negative modifiers, allowing a shrewd player to lower their Power rating (and recovery time) in return!

If you play as a weaker unit, you have a lower Power rating but you are also 'worth' less points when killed! Conversely, playing as a more powerful unit makes you 'worth' more to your enemies!

This allows a player to flex the Underdog fantasy if they have the skills, and still be rewarded for it. Or simply feel like a miniboss in the spirit of classic shoot-em-ups!

Join up to 3 other human players, as you tackle missions co-op or go head-to-head in deathmatch with up to 8 AI bots!
