Cart Legends is a physics-driven modular vehicle playground. Start with a core, snap together a machine from real physical components, and take that exact construction into a proving ground, a race, or a multiplayer session.

This is a very early technical pre-alpha Playtest. The foundation is playable, but rules, balance, presentation, content, and save formats can change quickly.FREE STEAM PLAYTEST — AVAILABLE DURING DEVELOPMENT

The free Steam Playtest is temporary. Once the core design, balance and content are ready for the next stage, we plan to close the playtest and launch a paid Early Access version at a low initial price. We expect the price to increase as the game gains content and polish on the way to its full release.

Build with a current catalog of 32 components: structural beams and plates, bearings, steering and suspension parts, three wheel sizes, engines, crystals, jump pistons, thrusters, turrets, physical hammers, headlights, ballast, and more. Compatible sockets, authored collision volumes, real mass, centre of mass, and inertia decide whether your invention drives beautifully, barely moves, flips over, or discovers a completely different use.

There is no prescribed cart layout. Thrusters can push, brake, spin, or help a machine fly. Pistons transfer real contact force. Hammers swing as physical bodies. Turrets fire physical projectiles. Strange ideas are part of the point.BUILD, TEST, RACE

Garage builder: place, rotate, move, detach, and reattach parts; configure steering; allocate white Engine, blue Shield, and red Gadget crystals into core slots; and keep up to ten named local constructions.

Test Drive: try the saved machine in a physics proving ground with ramps, steps, logs, balls, crates, and live ability-energy feedback.

Skyway Circuit: run the current three-lap test race solo or through a Steam/LAN session, with race timing and a world leaderboard for the track and lap count.

Physical gadgets: jump with constrained two-stage pistons, hold thrusters for continuous force, fire turrets, and swing compact or heavy hammers.

Multiplayer foundation: host or join Steam and LAN lobbies. The server validates each submitted build and inputs, simulates the carts authoritatively, and sends smoothed vehicle, wheel, and ability state to clients.
WHAT IS STILL EARLY

Combat is currently a shared driving-and-physics sandbox, not a finished match mode. Damage, Shield consumption, objectives, scoring, progression, late joining, and rebuilding during a running match are not complete. The Powered Hinge is currently rigid, and the current Playtest contains one three-lap race configuration.BUILT WITH THE COMMUNITY

Racing and arena combat are the two main directions around the same modular vehicle sandbox. A story mode is also a possibility, not a promised feature. Playtest feedback will help decide which modes, parts, rules, and experiments deserve priority as Cart Legends grows toward Early Access.
