Game Introduction:
Climbing Back to the Mothership might look like a typical 2D platformer.
But calling it a platformer may not be quite accurate. After careful research, we decided to replace jumping with dragging and pulling. The surveyor is unconscious: he can't jump or move on his own. The core mechanic is using the grappling hook on his arm to move around.
From feet to hands, from jumping to grappling, from nothing to something.
So, Climbing Back to the Mothership is a 2D platform drag-and-pull game.
Thank you for your interest in my game This page's content has been polished by GPT for localization.
The trailer features an older version of the content, but the core remains the same.
We will refine all related content before the game's release. Thank you for your understanding and look forward to it.
Game Features:
Play as a grappling hook (half broken).
A literal tower climb (a journey home in every sense).
Falling to the bottom isn't so bad (a free little robot will chat).
All skills from the start, as if you've reached Rome (more room for error, fewer complaints to come).
A safety switch in every level (a real false alarm—once you flip the lever).
Picturesque scenery (pixel-art hues).
A fragmented story (scattered in pieces across the map).
Many little robots dropped from the sky (from the surveyor's robot bundle, scattered far and wide).
Restarting makes you strong (or makes you go boom before long).
No wax needed for your grappling hook (don't fear breaking the other half—get home by hook or crook).
"Practice makes perfect," or at least that's what they say.
Mechanics & Tips:
Left-click to pull, right-click to part; watch the white ring before you start.
Red means stop, green means go; yellow's explained on the wall below.
Q fills you with air, E takes you to stage two; stuck? Press R—get your feet free too.
Keep hitting bottom? Clear your head; brute force won't work miracles ahead.
But Space can work a miracle.
Survive until next season.
Story Introduction:
The scientific exploration ship "the Qiusuo" encountered a distress signal from an unknown planet during its return journey. According to the Interstellar Universal Convention's principle of nearest rescue, the captain decided to send personnel to the planet for a rescue mission.
10:48 FST (Fleet Standard Time), the unmanned probe transmitted an evaluation report indicating that the comprehensive indicators of the planet met the safe landing standards.
12:02 FST, the first scout shuttles had landed on the planet's surface, while the Qiusuo entered a near-Earth parking orbit.
12:07 FST, the mothership broadcasted a full-band evacuation signal.
12:12 FST, still no response.
...
12:03 FST, scout shuttle S23A lost control for unknown reasons and began to rapidly descend. Before crashing, the life support system automatically ejected the surveyors.
But the misfortunes didn't stop there. The ejected surveyor collided at high speed with an unexpected obstacle in the air, causing the parachute system to go offline. The surveyor then free-fell uncontrollably, and despite the exploration suit's strong protection, injury couldn't be completely avoided. The grappling hook device "Little Gecko No.73" (a distributed AI robot, seen from the player's perspective), installed on the surveyor's right arm, also suffered some damage.
After landing and becoming stationary, Little Gecko No.73 began a self-check. It quickly discovered that the life signs monitor connection had failed, and the surveyor showed no physical response. Following standard procedures, No.73 took over most control functions.
12:07 FST, No.73 received the mothership's evacuation signal but couldn't respond due to a malfunctioning transponder. Therefore, No.73 initiated an emergency plan to evacuate the surveyor from the scene instead of waiting for rescue.
Just as Little Gecko No.73 was about to move, it stopped dead in its tracks.
During the initial self-check, besides the transponder, No.73 also confirmed that the ranging module and motion sensors were damaged. Thus, its main mode of movement was manual calculation via algorithm. However, due to the surveyor's previous incorrect settings, the safety supervision protocol could not be disabled and continued to interfere with the algorithm. What seemed like a controlled landing was actually an even more uncontrollable plunge to the bottom.
The journey back home is extraordinarily challenging.
