The popular 70-mile Saluda Grade: Asheville – Spartanburg route for Train Simulator Classic brings to life one of North America’s most scenic and historic rail lines, and with Saluda Grade Scenario Pack 02, you’ll experience main line, local, and switching freight operations aboard four types of first- and second-generation Southern Railway and Norfolk Southern diesel locomotives.

With Saluda Grade Scenario Pack 02, you’ll tackle both the ascent and descent of daunting 4.7 percent Saluda Grade, America’s steepest standard gauge railroad main line; you’ll operate over the route’s challenging “saw tooth” profile of numerous roller-coaster 1.5 percent grades; and you’ll work local and switching duties to serve many of the 40+ industries along the route.

Saluda Grade Scenario Pack 02 will take you over the length of the 70-mile “A&S” route as masterfully created for Train Simulator Classic by noted developer High Iron Simulations and will put you at the controls of Electro-Motive diesels ranging from classic F7 “covered wagons” to high-horsepower, hi-nose SD40-2s.

With Saluda Grade Scenario Pack 02, you will:

Take the throttle of an A-B-B-A set of Southern Railway Electro-Motive F7s at Spartanburg’s Hayne Yard for a snowy westbound journey across the Blue Ridge, including “doubling the hill” for the steep 4.7 percent ascent of Saluda Grade!

Climb aboard Central of Georgia and Southern Railway EMD GP18s in two scenarios that will test your switching skills as you handle a summertime local turn out of Hayne Yard with switching duties along the main line, and on a wintry day work the many industries of the Cane Creek Industrial District.

Handle a westbound woodchips train during the early 1980s transitional era shortly after the creation of Norfolk Southern. To lug the ponderous train over the heart of the Blue Ridge, you’ll call upon a mixed lash-up of Southern and Norfolk Southern EMD power.

Accept the call as engineer of a local turn making numerous setouts and pick-ups along the west end of the line toward Hendersonville with a duo of versatile Southern Railway EMD GP35s providing the horsepower.

Operate a coal train from Asheville Yard to the Skyland Power Plant aboard an NS SD40-2 running long-hood forward, then split and spot the long string of loaded hoppers on the receiving yard tracks.

Serve as engineer of the Norfolk Southern “TR Turn” coming off the Brevard Branch at Hendersonville, then with a duo of NS EMD GP35s, work lineside industries along the “A&S” en route to Asheville Yard.
