Created in 1970 from the historic “Hill Lines” (Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Burlington Route, and Spokane, Portland & Seattle), the Burlington Northern ruled supreme over rugged Stevens Pass for a quarter century before becoming a part of today’s giant BNSF in 1995.

Stevens Pass Scenario Pack 02, featuring ten new and authentic career scenarios, brings Burlington Northern railroading to life, from the post-merger days of the early 1970s when the railroad was a rainbow of predecessor liveries right through the 1990s and Burlington Northern use of stunning “white face livery” locomotives.

Today known as the Scenic Subdivision of rail giant BNSF, the Stevens Pass route crosses the spine of the Cascades as it extends 154 route miles from Wenatchee, via Everett, toward Seattle, Washington. With ruling grades of 2.2 percent and keynoted by 7.8-mile-long Cascade Tunnel, the tough but beautiful route is a classic among North American mountain railroads.

With Stevens Pass Scenario Pack 02, you’ll experience intermodal, manifest freight, unit train, local, and switching operations, and you’ll take the controls of five diverse types of BN EMD and General Electric diesel locomotives to battle tonnage and daunting Cascade Mountain grades. With Stevens Pass Scenario Pack 02, you will:

Handle, aboard a potent “white face” BN EMD SD40-2, BN’s hot-shot intermodal Train 3 (Chicago-Seattle) as it makes its climb up the unforgiving east slope of the Cascades.

Step aboard a pair of versatile BN EMD GP38-2s to work a transfer run originating at Everett’s Delta Yard and bound toward Tacoma.

Take the throttle of a husky and stylish Burlington Northern EMD F45 to lead a long train of coal empties eastbound and up the west slope of Stevens Pass.

Experience the “rainbow years” of the Burlington Northern as you serve as engineer of BN Train 188 working eastbound over the Cascades powered by General Electric U25B in a cornucopia of predecessor road colors.

Tackle heavy tonnage and 2.2 percent grades as you guide an F45-powered westbound unit grain train from Wenatchee to the summit of Stevens Pass in a challenging two-part scenario.

Work secondary freight BN 600 as it makes its way eastbound along the Pacific Division’s First Subdivision toward Wenatchee with an ex-Northern Pacific GE U25C on the point.

Depart Everett’s Delta Yard and make a fast-paced run across the relatively flat west end of the Stevens Pass line as engineer of Burlington Northern manifest freight 206.

Answer the call at dawn on a wintry day to handle Wenatchee switching duties aboard a Burlington Northern EMD GP38-2.

Work a secondary freight westward from Wenatchee with local and switching work en route and with a veteran duo of BN General Electric U25Bs serving as power.
