Flying Circus: Volume III expands the WWI aerial lineup to the early war period, when the war in the skies was even more novel and precarious and the flying machine designs were sometimes built with audacity and blind luck rather than engineering thought.

Flying Circus - Volume III is part of the IL-2 Great Battles series and can be played together with other games in the series – the other Flying Circus volumes, Battle for Stalingrad, Battle for Moscow, Battle of Kuban, Battle of Normandy, and Bodenplatte. Together they form a single combat flight simulator of both world wars.

Large Western Front map (120,00 sq. km.) with cities, towns, airfields, factories, bridges, farms, and the treacherous “No Man's Land.”

Eight legendary aircraft of the era – the Albatros D.II, Halberstadt D.II, Nieuport 11.C1, French Nieuport 17.C1, Nieuport 17.C1 adapted for British service, and Hanriot HD.1 fighters, and the R.E.8. and F.E.2b two-seater reconnaissance planes.

Aircraft models include field and weapon modifications from the era.
