Vermin is a first-person survival horror game about hunting, feeding the heart, and dreaming of death.
Everything suffers- even the trees in the forest moan in pain, it's almost as if they too, have lost everything. Though you're no better than whatever caused this. Do you still think the animal in your trap doesn't suffer, even after hearing it's screams?
FEED THE HEART
Feed the heart each day with the creatures that you hunt, and use them to mutate your body, explore new areas, and find new items, and maybe then.. it will set you free.
TRAP AND HUNT
Set traps, find creatures to hunt, and defend yourself if you have to... In this brutal world, sometimes your best option is to run, if you can't run, hide, and if you can't hide.. don't bother praying, God isn't listening.
MANAGE YOUR INVENTORY
Manage your small inventory and use your precious items sparingly, you never know when you will need them, maybe it's better to save that shotgun shell for later.
Combine items to create something useful, or save them to make new traps or upgrades when you get back home.
LOOT AND EXPLORE
Explore this unforgiving world and feel the suffering through the thick, numbing atmosphere. Collect items, craft new traps, and catch new creatures in hopes of joining the others, in the dirt...
There are 4 unique areas to explore, all with their own creatures, obstacles and items, in a small open world, with metroidvania style progression, given by mutating your body from the creatures that you catch.
TRY NOT TO BLEED
The more you bleed, the faster nightfall approaches. So be careful in the forest, watch your step, and take your time. The brutally dark Night brings terrors, and the heart will not let you sleep, until it is fed...
