Mandated Fate is a narrative-driven social thriller where loyalty is survival. You play as a weary inspector, a man with a fraught past, out of place in a newly established authoritarian regime.
In 1985, a rising technological empire has seized power, driven by a single ambition: to discover the anti-gravity particle and surpass its global rivals by conquering space. The regime demands absolute unity, framing this race as a matter of national destiny. But one old district continues to resist, no one knows quite how, or why.
Assigned to investigate a strange murder there, you quickly find yourself entangled in a deeper web of political intrigue and ideological tension - balancing your loyalty and your life to save what truly matters before the city closes in.

You are tasked with a dangerous investigation where crossing into illegality isn't just easy-it's expected. Your mission? Uphold the law by breaking it. The Empire demands absolute results and absolute loyalty, even when they contradict each other. But don't worry, the Emperor is a generous man; he knows exactly how to reward citizens who... cooperate. Loyal, unaligned, or dissident, your choices will lead you down different paths. Choose your answers carefully, or live with the consequences of your choices.

Interrogate key characters through a rich and complex dialogue system, where storytelling takes center stage. You'll make choices you’ll have to live with. If your loyalty fails, you’ll be forced into brutal moral trade-offs. Betray your neighbors, bribe the guards, or sacrifice your allies to buy your way out.

Walk, take the subway, the elevator, drive: But beware, government surveillance is never far away! Your driving will be closely monitored. Experience a world of haunting contrasts, where narrow, dark alleyways meet gargantuan structures, and elegant Art Deco ruins stand in the shadow of authoritarian neo-brutalism and towering screens.

HOW DOES THE CORE LOOP EVOLVE?
The core loop evolves through the tension between your public Merit Score (Imperial metric) and your private Convictions.
The Loop: maintain status and make choices through dialogues, investigate situations/collect intel, face the consequences of your choices (with multiple supporting systems and exploration)

The Evolution: As the story progresses, your Conviction acts as a form of Ideological Charisma. Early on, you’re just a face in the crowd. But as you solidify your stance (Pro-Empire or Dissident), you become more 'authentic' and convincing to like-minded NPCs.

The Payoff: This authenticity unlocks deeper secrets, hidden paths, and high-stakes dialogue options that a 'neutral' player would never see. You’ll start by simply trying to survive the system, but you’ll end up either mastering its bureaucracy or subverting it from the shadows
