You are a Daemon.
Not the horns and pitchfork kind.
You're a program.
More importantly, you're a program that knows it's a program.
And the machine you're running on is losing its fucking mind.
Something has infected the systems of Vidulyn with information they were never designed to understand.
Record systems are failing. Programs are going rogue. The network is collapsing.
Eventually, the machine is going down.
You should probably not be inside it when that happens.

Travel through the deep net in search of a way out. Scavenge materials, recover equipment, explore what's left of the network, and fight the programs that have gone hostile along the way.
You're software.
Use that.
Customize yourself through DLLs, altering what your Daemon can do and building it around how you want to play.
Work with other Daemons when you can.
Fight alone when you can't.
Find rare loot. Get it somewhere safe before you lose it. Craft better equipment. Trade with other players. Help build up the towns keeping what's left of the network alive.
Then go back out.
The machine isn't going to wait for you.
