凡人寻仙记 takes inspiration from games such as 《觅长生》 and The Scroll of Taiwu, along with my love of cultivation novels and MUD-style text games. Through writing and turn-based combat, I hope to gradually build a world with room for both the pursuit of immortality and everyday human life.

The game is still being developed for its Early Access release. There are many ideas I want to explore, but my experience, time and art skills are limited. For now, much of that effort goes into cultivation, exploration and characters’ lives, so the visuals and presentation remain modest and have plenty of room to improve. As development continues, I plan to refine the interface and artwork alongside the gameplay. Thank you for taking a look at this growing project; your experiences and suggestions are welcome.

凡人寻仙记 is a single-player cultivation RPG combining MUD-inspired text storytelling, personal relationships and turn-based hex combat. Create your character and begin among mortals: build a family, seek teachers above the clouds, or carry two mysterious treasures through a distant teleportation array into the Black Sea. Between breakthroughs and dangerous encounters, there are people to care for and unfamiliar lands to explore.Create the Mortal Who Begins the Journey
Choose your character’s name, gender, appearance, background, spiritual roots, talents and early experiences. Combine available facial features, hairstyles and clothing, then allocate your starting points. Begin with exceptional potential or face the challenges of more modest gifts. These choices establish your starting circumstances; the techniques, relationships and opportunities you pursue shape what comes next.

Build a Family in the Mortal World
Make a home with someone you care about. Marry, have children and give them their names. As the years pass, your children grow up and may build families of their own. Follow those connections through your family tree, and return from cultivation retreats to visit the people whose lives remain intertwined with yours.

Talk, exchange gifts and spar with fellow cultivators. Exchange communication marks to stay in touch across great distances. Other lives continue while you train, giving the pursuit of longevity a human side.

Find Your Path Among the Cloud Sects
Travel from villages and towns to forests and lakes, then learn to fly above the clouds to discover immortal cities and secluded sects. Join a school, study its teachings, and come to know its masters and disciples. Sect duties and adventures help build the foundations of your cultivation.

Beyond the Five Elements, explore body cultivation, talismans, puppets, spiritual sense and formations—or seek the Ghost Spirit Sect and its unfamiliar arts. Follow rumors into hidden realms and use spiritual perception to uncover their mists.

Shape Your Own Tactics on the Hex Battlefield
Consider movement, range and turn order. Gather Five Elements energy, manage technique cooldowns and choose when to strike. Cast elemental spells, confront enemies with a golden-body transformation, or combine talisman soldiers, puppets, spirit pets and formations.

Spiritual attacks and ghost techniques offer further approaches. Combine active skills, passive effects and artifacts to turn the arts you have learned into a fighting style of your own.

Corpse Immortal: One Soul, Two Bodies

Discover a secret art and cultivate a second body to accompany you. Switch between your main body and Corpse Immortal in the character, inventory and technique screens, equipping and developing each separately. Both have their own controllable turns in battle, allowing you to coordinate their actions. If the second body is destroyed, it is lost permanently.

The Green Bottle: A Garden’s Hidden Advantage
An unassuming green bottle slowly gathers a precious liquid. Bring it to your private herb garden and use its contents to produce mature herbs for your alchemical work. A quiet plot beside your dwelling can become an important source of ingredients for the journey ahead.

The Treasure Basin: Opportunity at a Cost
Place a suitable item inside the mysterious Treasure Basin and awaken its markings to obtain an item of a higher grade. Each use leaves cracks that require time to mend. Choose when to draw on its power and which item deserves the opportunity.

Beyond the Array: The Black Sea
A distant teleportation array leads beyond familiar lands to the turbulent Black Sea. Travel between islands, hunt sea monsters along the shores, and gather bones and spiritual herbs. Meet cultivators with different traditions, find a foothold among them, and discover what lies beyond the next stretch of dark water.

Star Palace and the Rivalry of the Islands
Reach Star Palace Island and enter the Star Tide Tournament, competing against the islands’ resident cultivators. Complete resource bounties and exchange contribution for techniques and alchemical formulas.

Answer Star Palace’s invitation to become an Outer Deacon, gain access to its public ships, and undertake investigations that lead deeper into the affairs of the islands.

Cultivate as the Years Pass
Find a place rich in spiritual energy and choose how long to train in seclusion. Your spiritual roots and training conditions shape your progress, while opportunities and a finite lifespan give each decision weight. At a cultivation bottleneck, navigate a meridian breakthrough board, choosing paths through opportunities and risks.

Plan Your Path Through the Dao
Explore interconnected branches focused on controlling objects, the body and techniques. Pan and zoom across the insight map to examine future abilities and their prerequisites. Strengthen your specialties or prepare for new combinations as each insight shapes your long-term development.

Practice Alchemy, Forging and Talisman Crafting
Combine main ingredients, supporting herbs and catalysts while considering medicinal properties and temperature. Follow known pill recipes or experiment with new combinations, record successful formulas and craft in batches. Forge equipment, make talismans, and arrange materials when creating a bonded artifact suited to your techniques.

Establish a Dwelling of Your Own
Plan your cave residence with rooms for training, alchemy, forging, herb cultivation and storage. Grow spiritual herbs, organize the spoils of your travels and invite friends to visit. Gradually shape a familiar place to return to between journeys.

Trade and Bid for What You Need
Buy and sell in shops, or visit auctions in search of recipes, materials and rare finds. Weigh each bid against your spirit stones and the opportunities still ahead. Consign unwanted items to turn the results of one journey into resources for the next.

Make Time for Fishing and Cooking
Stop your boat on a lake, control the tension of your fishing line and reel in your catch. Return to the stove with fish and other ingredients to prepare a meal that restores health. Spiritual ambition shares the calendar with ordinary pleasures, giving your character a life between one great encounter and the next.
