Welcome to Cold Decks, a card-based science fiction survival game where you Explore, Experiment, Craft, and do whatever it takes to Survive.
Almost everything is a card. Your crew, your tools, the oxygen you breathe, the fire that's about to kill you. The existential dread of being the last vestige of mankind drifting through the cold vast of space? That is not a card though.
You awaken aboard the colony ship the Indomitable. Systems have failed a long time ago. The crew is frozen or worse. It is up to you to ensure the safety of the remaining Pioneers and the ship that carries them all.

Stack your cards right, and you might just make it.

Surviving onboard a dead colony ship is not an easy task. The tools for your survival lie scattered across the dead cold decks. Every sealed hatch hides answers, resources, and new obstacles for you to overcome.
A mysterious WildCard Initiative built and prepared the Indomitable for its long, lonely voyage among the stars. Discover their origins. Comb through their dirty laundry. Sometimes quite literally. Follow cryptic voices crackling over the intercom. They will guide you towards answers, salvation, and their own selfish goals.

The hatches of the Indomitable are waiting. Pry them open.

AWAKEN YOUR INNER MAD SCIENTIST. THERE ARE NO ETHICS COMMITTEES OR LAWS IN DEEP SPACE.
Cold Decks does not force you down a single path. Need to get through a high-security hatch? Forge tokens that give override access, hack nearby security terminal to unlock it remotely, or just blow the damned thing off its hinges.
After you enter, there is actual science waiting for you. Load up the Science Bench with exotic components, mix chemicals, irradiate biological samples, and push the boundaries of what is possible. Ever wanted to build a biocomputer from mutated plant matter and unstable metallic hydrogen? Now's your chance.

Your tools. Your call. Your consequences.

EVERYTHING IS A BUILDING BLOCK IF YOU THINK LIKE AN ENGINEER, WITH EPIC SKILLS AND EPIC GEAR.
Almost everything in Cold Decks can be created, dismantled, or repurposed. Scraps of ceramic heat shielding, shards of metallic glass, abandoned bunk beds, broken cryopods, every part can find its use.
Build your way up through tiers of increasingly sophisticated components: simple components become wire and glue, wire and glue become servomotors and logic nodes, servomotors and logic nodes become robots, power generators, and life support systems.

Waste not, want not. On the Indomitable, trash is treasure.

ENFORCE YOUR PIONEER WILL. BREACH THE FINAL FRONTIER WITH WANTON DESTRUCTION.
Gather your crew from cryogenically frozen Pioneers. They do not remember their past lives, but just might remember their skills, like how to repair a fusion reactor or pacify a three-handed mutineer. Equip them with items and train them through practice. Watch them grow from confused amnesiac to masters of their craft.
The right Pioneer with the right gear can accomplish what three untrained ones cannot. Choose carefully who learns what and who stays frozen.
There are dangers aplenty onboard. Vacuum. Fire. Hull breach. Radiation. Spore infestation. So many ways to die. Every cycle, your crew needs oxygen. If you do not have enough oxygen, someone will suffocate. It is simple math with fatal consequences.
Every threat is also an opportunity and vice versa. An abundance of oxygen will make the small industrial fire burn through the bulkheads. A hull breach will suck your enemies and harmful radiation right out into the void. The ship's hazards are tools if you're desperate enough to use them.

Please be careful though. Physics does not care that you are one of the good guys. Cause you are, right?
