Aside from dangerous enemy encounters in these areas you will also find Classic Survival Horror puzzles in need of solutions. Interact with the environment, find keys to open locked rooms, collect documents to learn more about the world and its inhabitants.
As you explore the environment you might also find situations where choices will be prompted. So be sure to interact with the entirety of an environment to find clues, discover secret items or engage in miscellaneous actions to affect the world like pushing objects, breaking containers or dialoguing with NPCs.
