Cade Mercer is a student at Astra Academy, a sanctuary where aspiring wizards study the Nine Paths of Magic. Gifted with extraordinary sensitivity to magical energies, Cade is fascinated by magical experimentation, drawn to the unexpected beauty that emerges when different spells collide.
However, one of his experiments spirals out of control, causing chaos that enrages malevolent spirits and brings disaster upon his home. Haunted by guilt over the destruction he helped create, Cade sets out on a journey determined to make things right and restore what was lost.
