Underroot

Underroot is a cozy fantasy mining adventure about traveling to a remote Mushroom Village to make a fresh start.

You arrive by train with very little and plan to apply for work at the Mining Office. There are other ways to earn money in Underroot, but mining offers the best chance of finding something valuable and becoming wealthy.

Once you are accepted as a miner, you can begin exploring the mines below the village. Gather ores, find treasure, complete quests, and improve your equipment so you can travel deeper. You can also place lights, build underground camps, and use technology to make dangerous areas easier to survive.

Something called the Rot is spreading through the mines. The people of Underroot know that something is wrong, but they do not understand what is causing it. The Rot is able to corrupt Mushroom People, turning some of them into enemies. It can also influence the player through characters they meet along the way.

Ancient crystals, forgotten machines, ruined areas, and the deepest parts of the mines may contain answers. These mysteries are discovered gradually as you explore.

Between mining trips, return to the Mushroom Village to rest, gather supplies, and get to know the people living there. You can earn money, help residents, build relationships, and create a comfortable life for yourself. You will also be able to own and improve a home in the village.

You may decide to stay close to the village, or continue pushing deeper into the mines. Over time, you can establish camps underground and possibly make the mines themselves your home.

Your choices affect your relationships, the village, and how your story ends. Choosing to follow the Rot can change the game in ways that may not always be easy to predict.
