The monsters that used to fight for us are gone, and now we fight each other.
Somewhere along the way, you start wondering if you're the bad guy. After all, every villain was once an adventurer too sure they were right.
Start with a spark. Finish with meteors, bees, Tesla turrets and a ghost that copies your magic.

Fights are turn-based, but you're not stuck in a menu. On your turn you walk the battlefield, then aim your magic exactly where you want it. Rocks stop spells dead, yours and the monsters', so duck behind one when something big is lining you up, then step out and return the favor. Your active charges as the turns go by, and when it's full you drop it on the whole pack. Pick up a new one and the old one stays on the ground. This ain't no deckbuilder.

There are over 200 charms, and you keep every one you pick up. They don't just add numbers, they change your magic. Your spell starts throwing knives. It bounces to the next enemy, then comes back like a boomerang and hits them all again. A wisp circles your party and burns anything that gets close. A chained biter lunges at whoever's nearest. Hit something and a bee might fly out and sting it. Find the right few and that little spark is clearing the room on its own.

22 hand-drawn tarot cards that pay homage to my favorite games. Each one is a one-time miracle: kill the weakest enemy outright, take another turn, fully charge your active, or drag an elite into the fight and rob it of a charm.

Every act is a branching map, and where your pawn goes is up to you. Chase the red coins for elite fights and the charms they drop, swing by Briar's cottage when your pockets are full, or go poke at the weird stuff: a red door, a wishing well, buried treasure, a grave you can pay your respects to or rob blind. Lean far enough toward evil and your magic turns into a devil laser. Play the saint and it's a holy beam.

Meet zany characters along the way, and most of them want something from you. Einstein will redraw the whole map if you're bored of it. Ada will trade three of your charms for one really good one. Henri the Judgemental Geologist sets a stone into you that changes how you fight. Kaero runs a table that only takes payment in Max HP.
