Urban Green

Urban Green is a romantic visual novel reconstruction. Players will take the role of Jack Sanner, a downwardly mobile, directionless young man who’s just moved to a new city to start a new job at the non-profit environmentalist start-up Urban Green. It’s a chance to finally get his life together, do something that matters with his time. Or, so he thinks…
Along the way, he’ll meet four very different women whose lives have landed them in similar circumstances: the bright and irrepressible Caroline, the cynical and sarcastic Beck, the timid and focused Olivia, and the mature Aaliyah. Jack will work with these women, get to know them, butt heads with them, and potentially, if he makes the right choices, fall in love with one of them. But that’s never the end of the story.
With nine endings to discover, over twenty-five hand-drawn CG backgrounds, a custom-made lofi soundtrack and four full-length, completely distinct story paths depending on the character Jack pursues, Urban Green is a labor of love, and one that we are so excited to share with you. It’s a story for our time, a story about ennui, mental health, and human connection, about getting what you want versus getting what you need, and about having the bravery to live a good life in a world that can often seem out to thwart you at every turn.

                            

Caroline is the go-getter queen of Urban Green, Jack’s direct supervisor who greets every day with a smile and a can-do attitude. Some might say she takes too much on, but Caroline doesn’t have time to be worrying about that — she’s got a planet to save!

Beck does not want to be here. A true slacker, Caroline’s younger sister would much rather smoke on the roof than do anything resembling working. Sharp-tongued and blunt, Beck isn’t the easiest person to get along with, but there’s nobody better to talk to if you just want to escape the world for a while.

Olivia doesn’t really get people. Timid in the extreme, she’s nonetheless determined to do a good job in her role as Urban Green’s bookkeeper, and equally determined to be home as soon as possible when her shift is over. Getting close to her may not be easy, but it’s certain to be an adventure.

Aloof and mysterious, Aaliyah can often seem like the only real ‘adult’ in the room, and she parties like it, too. As Jack’s next-door neighbor and a nurse at a nearby hospital, Aaliyah knows better than anyone else how fleeting time can be, and she’s determined to make the most of it — whatever she has to give up to do it.
