When Run was little, he loved making promises most of all.
He told Xiaoyou, the girl next door, that they would get into the same university together; his father also taught him that if you promised someone something, you should find a way to keep it.
Back then, the future seemed so far away—far enough to hold every single "someday."
But time moved on, and Xiaoyou had become nothing more than an "ordinary classmate" in his words; the books his father had written were long since covered in dust. Run himself even thought—how could you take seriously the things you said as a child?
Until a long-overdue gathering, a rainstorm he couldn't avoid, and a box that could show stars even in broad daylight brought all those things that should have been left behind right back in front of him.
People naturally grow up, and it's inevitable that they break promises.
But the one who once believed in those words has grown up alongside him.
Before his childhood sweetheart is completely disappointed, can Run finally face her again and fulfill that "ultimate promise" from his childhood?

Xiaoyou, the childhood sweetheart of the protagonist Run.

Though they are still in the same school, she has long become what Run calls an "ordinary classmate." At least that's how it seemed at first.
She always puts on a stern face to Run, speaks bluntly, and when she truly gets angry, she never leaves any room for you to save face.
But if you spend more time with her, you'll find that she isn't as hard to approach as she appears.
She has a flaw—even if someone says something casually, she will quietly remember it in her heart, and if you forget, she will be very, very, very angry!
If I had to describe her, she's probably like a fierce little dog usually, but once she truly accepts someone, you can never shake her off.
Of course, you must never say these things to her face.

She always seems lazy and nonchalant, as if nothing in this world is worth taking too seriously.
Yet somehow, her grades have always been decent—and on top of that, she'd still flash you a smug smile and say, "Aww—I wasn't even trying."
But one day, this person who dreaded trouble more than anyone suddenly started working desperately, and no one knew why.
Perhaps she, too, had something she said long ago that she wanted to properly respond to.

Run, the male protagonist of this story.

Confident, outgoing, and able to get along with anyone wherever he goes—he's pretty much the annoyingly popular social butterfly you'd find in a light novel.
He seems to have a knack for making things feel light and easy. Old feelings, awkward topics, even the promises he made with utter seriousness as a child—by the time they leave his mouth, they end up as nothing more than "youthful ignorance."
In Run's view, people change, and no one can predict the future. So there's no need to hold onto old words for too long.
But there is still one promise he has yet to keep.
When the girl who has treasured every single one of those promises stands before him again, will he still be willing to walk with her toward the future they once dreamed of as children?

Cheerful and straightforward, she seems to have an inexhaustible supply of energy.

Quiet, restrained, and a bit clumsy. He always tends to hide his thoughts.

The story takes place in an ordinary high school. From casual chatter between classes, family conflicts, exam pressure, to the streets after school and the unspoken feelings of a spring day, Fulfilling the Promise tries to find stories within real school life. Many scenes and details come from the creator's own high school days. There are no unattainable youthful fantasies here—only a group of boys and girls, slowly drawing closer to each other in seemingly ordinary days.
 
▏A Lighter, More Breezy Love Story  
Compared to The Azure One, this work devotes more space to the interactions between characters and their daily romantic moments. Banter, misunderstandings, heart-fluttering moments, and those feelings that are clearly impossible to hide yet stubbornly left unspoken—together they make up this lighter, more upbeat youth story. Of course, some forgotten promises will also quietly return to them, beyond the laughter.

But some people will truly wait until the day those promises are fulfilled.
