DEATHMATE is a chess-themed roguelike deckbuilder.
Build an army of pieces, stack a deck full of moves, and battle your way across the depths of the Underworld.
Instead of moving pieces like a normal game of chess, you spend blood each turn to play cards with powerful effects. Add cards to your deck by opening card pack rewards and visiting shops.
Explore the Underworld to discover powerful pieces to add to your army. Between fights, you can venture across the rocky terrain to find shops that sell a variety of useful items, statues that upgrade cards, altars that grant run-altering rewards, tents containing mind-boggling puzzles, and more.
Although prior knowledge of chess certainly helps, it is not required! A tutorial is given at the beginning of the game, and tooltips provide simple explanations of each piece and its abilities.
