ON MY DUTY

Humanity has fallen apart. It was once a thriving civilisation, but now it lies destroyed, deserted and lifeless. The surface is covered in burning dust, and life can no longer regrow by itself. It all happened unexpectedly and fast, and no known science could predict or stop the incoming event.

A distant planet was torn apart by the gravitational forces of a black hole, sending massive fragments on unstable trajectories through our solar system. Several of them struck planets and moons, including Earth’s moon. People quickly realised that Earth’s surface was no longer habitable. The rich fled into orbit, while most people who could not afford to leave were forced to stay behind.

Those left on Earth started digging underground and building utopian cities deep beneath the surface. Now, in the year 3067, hundreds of years have passed since the Sky people lost connection with Earth and the underground cities below.

The people in orbit decided to launch their first Scouts, Cyborgs with human soul inside. Their duty is simple: re-establish connection with the people below and find a cure that can restore the planet back to life.

Dig through dirt, rock and the remains of a lost civilisation. Create your own paths, uncover caves, abandoned structures and hidden areas buried deep underground.

Each expedition takes you deeper into more valuable and dangerous environments. Search for resources, artifacts and forgotten technology, but the deeper you go, the harder it becomes to return with everything you found.

Finding valuable resources is only the beginning. Everything you recover must be physically brought back, from loose materials and artifacts to larger equipment. Carry it by hand, load your transport and decide what is worth taking.

As expeditions grow longer, moving your haul safely becomes part of the challenge. Better tools and transport let you recover more, while poor planning leaves valuable loot behind. Everything you return with fuels your Workshop, Upgrades and the next expedition deeper underground.

At the start, most of your operation is handled by hand. Bring resources back to the Workshop, load machines yourself and process materials into valuable components, equipment and goods.

As you progress, your Workshop becomes increasingly automated. Unlock machines, connect production systems and build processing lines that handle more of the work, freeing you to focus on preparing for deeper expeditions.

Everything you recover can push your operation forward. Sell valuable resources, materials and artifacts, then reinvest the money into better tools, machines and upgrades. Choosing what to sell and what to keep becomes part of the progression.

Better equipment also gives old areas new value. Upgrades can open previously unreachable paths, entrances and hidden locations, revealing new resources, routes and secrets when you return.

Farming is part of every expedition. Grow useful plants directly on the expedition lift, starting with simple crops before unlocking slower, more demanding plants that require specific temperatures or biomes.

More valuable crops also bring greater risk. Growing plants can attract enemies, forcing you to defend the lift with turrets, defensive structures and your own weapons while pushing into increasingly dangerous environments.

The underground is far from empty. As you descend, increasingly dangerous enemies will threaten you, your resources and your expedition. Use ranged weapons, specialised equipment and the environment to survive.

Deeper layers bring stronger threats and tougher combat. Better weapons, upgrades and preparation become essential, especially during farming and lift defence events. Sometimes you fight. Sometimes you grab the loot and get out.

The underground is filled with dangerous anomalies created by the catastrophe that changed Earth. They can distort the environment, affect movement and temperature, or become deadly if approached carelessly.

Different anomalies require different equipment and preparation. Some block routes or protect rare resources, forcing you to return later with better gear. The deeper you go, the stranger and more dangerous they become.
