Mame, Kana Desktop Companion

Your kana, always within reach
Starting hiragana and katakana from scratch? Still drilling them into place? Or watching the ones you used to know quietly fade? Mame meets you wherever you are, one card at a time, in the spare moments you'd otherwise spend doing nothing.

Mame is a desktop companion, a small black bean-cat with glasses, who lives in a corner of your screen and helps your Japanese stick. Whenever you have a spare moment, Mame offers a single card: read this kana, recall this word. Answer with a click, or wave it away for free. That's it.

Spaced repetition, working in the background
Mame runs an honest spaced-repetition engine. It shows you what you're about to forget, right when you're about to forget it, and keeps bringing new characters back around until they finally stick. Kana first, then N5 vocabulary. No cramming, no full-screen sessions. Just tiny, well-timed reviews scattered through your day.
All progress, no pressure
Every card you clear is a step forward, and it shows. Master a run of kana and Mame responds: new accessories to wear, new colors to try them in, a daily tally that keeps climbing. The loop only ever rewards.
Busy week? Nothing you've earned slips away. There's no streak to lose, no timer winding down, no backlog to grind through. Skip a card and it simply waits; dismissing costs nothing. Step away for a day or a month, and Mame welcomes you back exactly where you left off.

It fits into your day, not the other way around
Mame lives in a corner of your screen while you work, browse, or play, and steps in for a few seconds only when you actually have them. Never at a bad moment. No sitting down, no session to start, no schedule to keep. Practice happens in the gaps you already have.
Its focus is the foundation that pays off every day: both kana syllabaries, learned and kept sharp from your very first character, plus the everyday vocabulary you'll actually reach for. A little at a time, until it's second nature.
