Build a home in deep space, one room at a time, and keep everyone in it alive, fed and happy.
Starbound Settlers is a pixel art colony sim on a space station far from anywhere. You plan it, your crew build it, and then they live in it.
Drag out a hull and watch your crew weld it into place. Drop in a kitchen, tables and chairs, run the power, and that empty box becomes the canteen where everyone eats lunch.
Over 330 things to build, from reactors and hydroponics to hot tubs, telescopes and a disco floor. Pick from 43 floors and 33 wall styles, choose fabric colours and wood finishes, and give every crew member a room of their own.
Every settler has their own traits, moods, backstory and opinions about everyone else. They make friends, fall out, fall in love and raise families. Dress them in their own clothes in up to 24 colours, and each job comes with its own work kit.
Build ore drones and send them out to drill the asteroid belts for iron, copper, ice, crystals and more. Fit them with upgrades like ion drives, heavy drills and heat shielding to push from the Near belt out to the Mid, the Far and the Edge.
When a comet swings by, send your drones to scoop its tail before it's gone. Cut salvage from drifting wrecks and bring home rare relics.
Over 100 technologies laid out as a star chart, and 64 story chains with over 260 goals to take you from one room to the far belts. Every goal tells you how, with a Show me button that points the way.
Pirates hail you before they attack. Pay them off, talk them down, or launch your attack drones and blow them out of the sky while the crew watch from the windows.
A station cat who sits on the keyboard. Disco nights. A visit now and then from the ghost of an old friend. And on a quiet day, a pod of space whales drifts past the lounge window.
Built for 20+ hours of play, and there's no ending: keep building for as long as you like.
Starbound Settlers is made by one developer. The free demo arrives in December 2026 and will be at Steam Next Fest in February 2027. Wishlist now so you don't miss it.
