Last Thaw

LAST THAW is a low-poly, hardcore survival game about getting through one more night. The dead walk the roads of a quiet northern region, the season is turning, and everything you need (food, warmth, a roof, a way out) has to be found, built or taken.

There is no health bar. You learn how you are doing the way a person would: by how you feel, how you move, and what the screen does when you are freezing, starving or bleeding.

Hunger, thirst, stamina, body temperature and wetness. Soaked clothes in a blizzard kill as surely as a bite.

Fever, food poisoning, bleeding, infection and broken bones you splint to keep walking.

Visible, layered clothing that tears, gets wet and can be sewn. You start in your underwear.

Sew two of the same backpack together into a bigger Reinforced pack, and wear a plate carrier or tactical vest for armour.

Cook, boil water, fill bottles at lakes and rain barrels, bandage, find medicine. Hand warmers for the cold, sleep for 4 or 8 hours, and a dodge roll when something gets too close.

Houses, shops, a supermarket, a clinic, a police station, a motel, warehouses, a factory and military sites, with restocking containers. Paper cash in tills and wallets, and traders to spend it with.

Melee weapons with durability and blocking, a bow with real arrows, and a large arsenal of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, belt-fed machine guns and SMGs with optics, extended mags and other attachments. Heavy weapons (RPG launcher, mortar, a .50 rifle) are rare finds.

Noise matters: the dead hear gunshots, engines and generators, and screamers call the rest.

New kinds of dead: Frostbound that burst out of deep snow, Lanterns that carry their light through the woods at night, Rammers, Spitters and worse.

Outbreak zones: a marked area appears somewhere on the map; clear it, kill its boss and claim a crate scaled to how much you did.

Airdrops: a cargo plane drops a supply crate under a parachute, with smoke and a map mark.

Snap-together building in wood and scrap metal: foundations, walls, doors, windows, floors, stairs, ladders, roofs, extra storeys.

Level or fill rough ground with a folding shovel before you build.

Defences: sandbags, spike barricades, metal walls, traps, mounted machine guns and a generator-powered auto turret.

Power and warmth: generators, an electrical panel, switches and lights, fireplaces, a wood furnace and electric heaters. A sealed room stays dry in rain and snow.

Chests, shelves, gun racks and fridges; a metalworking bench and forge. Buy a prefab house and furnish it yourself.

The dead batter doors and walls and find their way inside.

Deer and hares, wolf packs at night, bears in the hills. Fish lakes, rivers and the sea. Plant crops before the frost.

Tame a stray dog (or an escaped serval) by feeding it; it follows you, even indoors, and fights beside you.

Cars, coupes, wagons, vans, pickups, police cars, trucks, a tow truck and a dirt bike, with fuel, batteries, tyres, burnouts, donuts and real crash damage: panels crumple, glass cracks, doors and wheels come off.

A garage to work in: Stage 1 to 3 engine tunes, turbo, intake, exhaust, gearboxes, nitrous, lift and sport suspension kits, off-road tyres, and a one-click "fit all upgrades". Strip, repair or scrap what is broken.

Military vehicles at the Military Base: a field car, a 6x6 cargo truck, an articulated troop carrier with a ramp you lower from the cab, and a tank.

Tow a camper trailer you can live in.

Swim lakes and the sound. Helicopters, boats and a plane.

In winter Mirror Lake, Tamarack Lake and Wren Reservoir freeze over. Walk or drive out on the ice; your tyres cut blue tracks through the snow on top.

Tyre tracks stay in the snow until fresh snow fills them. Bare roads keep the rubber marks.

Blizzards bring whiteouts and deep snow; the spring thaw melts it away in patches.

A 3.3 km map: Kellford, Pinefield, Mirror Lake, Saltmarsh and its lighthouse, Brackwater and Wren Dam, the Greywall range, the quarry and railway, Millbrook and the farms, plus the new land with the city of Calder, an airport, the Military Base and Fort Aldren. Parts of the new land will keep filling in during Early Access.

Four seasons, snow, a day and night cycle and several weather types.

Nights are the dangerous part. Hordes roam, and raiders hold camps.

Full controller support: button prompts that switch to your controller, an on-screen keyboard and a controller layout screen. Or mouse and keyboard with rebindable keys.

Difficulty from Peaceful (no zombies) up, UI scale, subtitles, field of view, camera shake on or off, mph or km/h, and graphics options from low to ultra with upscaling.

Online co-op for up to 8 players via Steam invites or IP, optional PvP, shared bases and keys, group sleep, proximity voice and walkie-talkies.

Your friends' Steam names show over their heads, in chat and on the compass.

Host-run world; friends see exactly what you wear, from your sewn backpack to your vest.

Everything listed above is in the game today. Some of it is new and still being tested, so expect rough edges while we tune it.
Bug testing is constantly active: the team plays and tests every build, and your bug reports go straight into the next patches.

Regular updates for stability, new features and quality of life. Patch notes list every change.

Multiplayer supports up to 8 players. Everyone in a game needs the same version, so update together.

We work to keep your saves loading after every update. If a big update ever needs a fresh world, the patch notes will say so first.
