RAHKO: Shadows Around Us

You will fear the dark.
Your aunt has gone missing and you're drawn to your uncle's cottage to investigate what has happened. As you arrive to the middle of the Finnish wilderness, you learn that something has caused an eternal Kekri night, tearing open the boundaries between the human world and the Väki, spirits of Finnish folklore. The antagonist Rahko has blackened the moon with tar and is now hunting in the darkness.
Stay in the light. Keep the fire going. And bring beer.

Stay in the light: Find and craft various light sources and keep the fire burning as Rahko hunts those who wander into the dark. Every fire must be lit from an existing source, tracing back to the first campfire.

Scavenge and craft: Explore the darkness to search cottages, farms, and other points of interest for materials. Use them to craft gear and offerings.

Win over the Väki: Encounter angered beings from the Finnish folklore and turn them into allies with right offerings and by completing quests.

Survive the wildlife: As a bear charges at you, run for your life or stand your ground and assert dominance with a well-timed "PERKELE!".

Investigate the mystery: Search the forest for notes and clues and appease the Väki to learn what has happened and how to survive the night.

Authentically Finnish: From cottages and saunas to characters and humor, the game is inspired by real locations and culture in the South-West Finnish countryside.

Embark on a journey through Finnish folklore and explore the deep forest, through cottages and farms, to the old family ranch where something mysterious has happened. Appease spirits of the forest, water, and buildings to gain passage through swamps, lakes, and the underground realm of the Maahinen. Feel the presence and blessings of the old gods like Ahti, Tapio, and Ilmarinen on your quest to find out what has happened and how to end the eternal night.
