Survive the first night. Then the first winter. One day, the few huts rising around your fire may grow into a settlement that changes the fate of the whole region.
Quiet Lands takes place in an endless open world, in the harsh northern lands of the Iron Age. It is a game that brings together the mechanics of survival, founding and managing a colony, developing a village, taming animals and establishing dominance over other villages within kingdoms whose authority is fading.
With worn clothes and a few simple tools, start your life in a wild world surrounded by forests, lakes and bogs. Hunt, fish, gather resources, tame animals and prepare for the coming winter. Build yourself a shelter, then turn your small camp into a village that lives, grows and thrives.

First you make your clothes, then you cover them with fur and armor: prepare yourself for the cold and for combat with a fully modular armor, clothing and fur system!
Take in new settlers, give them tasks, and manage and defend your village. Trade with neighboring settlements, forge alliances or bring them under your rule. In this world of kingdoms, rival villages and different communities, it isn't enough just to survive; you must also carve out a place for yourself.
You decide how big a story that began with a campfire will become.
From a campfire to a living village
In your first days, all you'll worry about is a roof over your head and a fire to keep you warm through the night. But in time, you can turn this small refuge into a large settlement where people live and work.
Send hunters into the forest, have your farmers work the fields and entrust the flocks to your herders. Let provisioners dry and smoke food while builders raise new houses, workshops and defensive structures.
What's more, your villagers are not just workers who carry out your orders. Each of them has their own life, needs and happiness. Friendships form, people marry and grow old over time. Unrest can grow in a poorly run village; settlers who stay unhappy for too long may leave your village.
Plan production, manage your supplies, keep your villagers safe and lead your settlement's growth.
Even while you explore distant lands, life in your village goes on.
Live with nature, tame animals
To survive in the wild lands of the north, you must get to know nature and make use of the resources it offers.
Gather blueberries and mushrooms in the forests, but beware of the poisonous kinds. Hunt with bow, spear and traps, and follow animal tracks. Fish the lakes with rod, harpoon, net or spear.
Eat the meat of the animals you hunt and turn their hides into leather and fur. Dry, smoke or salt your food to keep it for a long time. Work the soil and grow turnips, rye, barley and flax.
In time, start raising your own animals. Look after goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, cattle and reindeer. Milk them, shear wool, collect eggs and feed your herds.
Tame animals and make them part of your life. Earn the trust of a wild wolf and turn it into a loyal companion. Explore the forests with your dog, teach it commands and let it protect you and your settlement when danger draws near.
In these lands, nature can be both your greatest ally and your greatest enemy.
Prepare before winter comes
In the north, the seasons don't just change the scenery; they rewrite all the rules of life.
Experience the long, bright nights of summer, forests shedding their leaves in autumn and lands buried under deep snow in winter.
Battle hunger, thirst, exhaustion, wounds and freezing cold. Keep your fire alive, reinforce your clothes and build yourself a safe shelter.
When winter comes, lakes freeze, plants disappear and food gets harder to find. Follow animal tracks in the snow, cut holes in the ice to fish and ski across frozen terrain. But the weather can change at any moment. A sudden blizzard can cut your visibility, make you lose your way and put out a fire burning in the open.
As winter approaches, you must think not only of yourself but of your whole village. Fill your wood stores, stock up on food and make sure your houses stay warm.
Because whether you survive the winter depends on the preparations you make in summer.
Make your own tools, clothes and weapons
Over time, take your crafting journey from simple stone tools to advanced metalworking.
Use stone, bone and quartz to make your first tools, bows and arrows. Make clothes from materials such as birch bark, linen, wool, felt, fur and leather. Dye them, improve them and adapt them to different conditions.
Burn charcoal, mine ore, smelt it and learn to work copper, bronze, iron and steel. Hammer out weapons at the forge and protect yourself with chain and plate armor.
Every item has a quality of its own. Your skills improve as you use them; as you gain experience, you can make better equipment and prepare for harsher conditions.
You may not find everything you need. Some things you will have to make yourself, others you will have to get from other settlements.
Villages, kingdoms and the struggle for dominance
The village you founded is only a small part of this vast world.
Beyond the forests, mountains and lakes lie other settlements with their own chiefs, people, resources and interests. Across the wider lands lie kingdoms and the communities under their influence.
You don't always have to fight to get ahead in this world.
Barter goods with neighboring villages without using money, improve your relations and make friends. Create new opportunities for yourself through alliances and try to live in peace with the communities around you.
But diplomacy may not always be enough.
Establish dominance over other villages and bring them under your influence. Make your power felt not only within the borders of your own settlement, but across the surrounding lands. Contend with rival settlements, shift the balance of power in the region and strive to gain a voice in this world of kingdoms.
Sometimes you may have to pay tribute to avoid conflict. At other times, you may have to fight to protect what you have or to expand your influence.
Starting out as the leader of a small village, you can become a power that shapes the fate of the settlements around you.
Will your neighbors know you as a friend, or fear your power?
Build, defend and fight
In the wilds of the north, nowhere is entirely safe.
Wolf packs roam the forests, bears may come close to your settlements and highwaymen may lie in wait on lonely roads.
As your village grows and prospers, you attract the attention of greater threats. Bandits may try to plunder your supplies, hostile villages may send thieves in the dark of night, or your settlement may come under direct attack.
Put up fences around your settlement, build watchtowers and light up the darkness with torch posts. Strengthen your defenses, protect your villagers and be ready for attacks.
Whether you defend your own village or clash with other settlements, you must consider how the losses and consequences of war will affect your life.
Because protecting a settlement that took years to build can be far harder than founding it.
A new world to explore every time
Step into a boundless, procedurally generated world, created anew for every game and waiting to be explored.
Push through dense forests, cross bogs, travel around lakes and press on to distant lands. Discover new villages and kingdoms on the world map, meet different communities and find new resources.
Every journey brings new opportunities and dangers. You may lose your way, reach an unfamiliar settlement or find yourself in the middle of dangerous territory.
What you learn and gain in distant lands can change the future of your own village.
The world is more than a map waiting for you; it's a place where life goes on, one you come to know as you explore it.
Survive with your friends
You don't have to take on the harsh northern lands alone.
Play co-op with your friends and build a life together in the same world. Hunt, fish, gather resources, raise animals and grow your settlement together.
Share the work among you. One of you can explore new lands while another manages the village's production. Prepare for winter together, defend your village and shape your relations with the settlements around you.
Build a small, peaceful village close to nature, or grow into a powerful settlement that dominates the lands around you.
Everything begins with a small campfire. What kind of world you build from there is up to you.
